Bringing horse and rider into greater balance and harmony
What is Synergistic Healing?
Synergistic Healing is the interaction of two or more modalities so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects.
When both horse and related horse person receive one or more healing modalities there is an additional synergistic effect because of the relationship between horse and horse person.
This creates an interspecies dance similar to healing (DAT) work done with dolphins and craniosacral therapy in children with a variety of neurotransmitter malfunctions.
In the case of the equine therapeutic riding, the mother of a challenged child receives the KCR™ and the child immediately benefits. So that when the child is also riding, and the horse has also received a healing modality, the whole process is greatly enhanced. This can happen because we live in an interrelated Quantum Universe.
What is Fascia and JFB/MFR®?
The fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout living bodies in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. Trauma, posture or inflammation can create a binding down of the fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures, and or organs. These restrictions do not show up in the standard tests, and so are often misdiagnosed.
John F. Barnes Equine Myofascial Release® approach is safe, gentle and consistently effective in producing results that last. It consists of sustained pressure into the fascial restrictions.
This sustained pressure gently disorganizes the body’s areas of restrictions, allowing it to reorganize. This is experienced as a “release.” JFB/MFR® may also be applied to humans, in a private studio setting. It often allows the person to go into a zero point state, allowing an almost magical healing experience.
Is it possible to improve riding and be more in tune with your horse?
Kinetic Chain Release Therapy KCR™, created by Physiotherapist Hugh Gilbert is an amazing protocol for quickly and easily bringing the body back into balance. Take the example of a water hose. When the hose has kinks in it the water cannot flow full force. When our bodies are not aligned, we have our kinks and natural healing energy is impeded. With KCR™ those kinks are straightened out, and our natural healing energy flows freely again with amazing results. This affects both of the person receiving it as well as others who are connected (horse).
After receiving KCR™, riders will feel a sense of release in their body which translates to an improved riding experience as well as feeling more in tune with the horse.
KCR™ is an active protocol partly using a massage table and a chair. It is fully clothed, lasting about 30 minutes. It can be given anywhere a massage table can be set up and does not require a private studio environment. The experiences is similar to a sports massage.

Dreamwalkers Equine Therapy Center is excited to be able to write a letter of reference for Miss Deborah Roberts. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to have Deborah join us to help our older horses. You see, we provide equine therapy for children with physical, emotional and developmental disabilities. We do this by rescuing older horses who are no longer able to provide the type of activity their riders need. Some come to us with arthritis, laminate, old injuries, not cared for properly, and abuse from overuse and heavy loads. They are the soul to what we do here and so their health and happiness is very important to our success.
Deborah started volunteering with us and provided myofascial treatment to our horses. It was amazing to watch her in action with them. Her calming effect earned their trust very quickly as she worked on their sore areas. I watch closely after each treatment and could see them moving easier and with less pain. As she continued to work with them I noticed they would collect their bodies under themselves and try and move more in uniform. My older horses were moving like teenagers again. Most importantly they were not needing pain medications to enjoy life.
I strongly recommend Deborah as a therapist to work on horses or any animal for that matter. She truly wants the best for them and works hard to improve their daily life. She made a huge difference in our horses and the way they were able to move and that in turn increased the positive response from our riders.

Deborah Roberts was born in Chicago, and grew up in Brazil. Her parents were missionaries to the Indians living on various tributaries of the Amazon River from 1950-1970. Although Deborah has always been interested in natural healing modalities, this became a major focus for her in 1999, due to crippling pain and dysfunction eventually diagnosed as fibromyalgia. This eventually led her through her own Healing Journey, to being able to help others on their own Healing Journeys.
